Biotech drew more venture dollars in 1H26 as deal count stayed lean
Median round size neared a record, while 14 megarounds accounted for $6.1 billion, nearly a third of all capital raised

The number of biotech venture rounds with disclosed amounts in 1H26 remained near the lowest first-half level of the past decade, while the median round size rose to $23.7 million, just below 2021’s first-half record, according to BioCentury’s analysis.
The 366 venture financings with disclosed amounts in 1H26 were down slightly from 371 in 1H25, extending the decline from the first-half peak of 663 in 2021. Only 1H17 had fewer rounds during the past decade, with 357. ...
