White House threats of mass firings do not apply to FDA, Makary told staff

As a potential Oct. 1 government shutdown approaches, the Trump administration has indicated that FDA will follow its past shutdown playbook. If Congress and the president fail to agree on a funding bill, there will be no mass layoffs at FDA, work on pending marketing applications will continue, but the agency will not accept new submissions until funding is restored.
